Hey all, let's talk about rat and mice catching using traps.

Firstly, congratulations to you for using humane rodent capturing option.
While traps do what they are meant to do, it's not as easy as it sounds. 
You have to attract them to go in to the trap, know where to place the trap and as well what to do after you successfully catch the rodent. 

Let's do it step by step.
First you have to understand what rodent you are dealing with because they come in slightly different sizes ( mice can be 2 - 3 times smaller than rats and 10 - 20 times heavier ) so small traps won't be very beneficial for capturing adult rat. 
If you're not sure what rodent you have, we recommend to purchase larger traps that are usually metal instead of plastic. ( see traps here )

Once you have identified what trap to purchase ( please make sure it's humane catch & release ) now you need to find the best location on where to place it. 
For this step we have to identify where rodent /s is hiding, this is where - our tracing kit comes handy as it will help you to locate entering points, their movement trails and as well nests ( see tracing kit here ) or read more about ( rodent tracing here ) 

Now that you successfully identified their hiding location /s, it's time to place the trap. 
As we learned about rodent senses ( read blog here ) we know that rats and mice have very poor vision. We recommend placing trap near the closest wall or against something bulky because this is how they prefer to move due to their poor vision. 

To make the process faster, we recommend to use attractant bait ( see here ) or you can also use things that you might have in home such as peanut butter. It's just more messy process but it will still work. Monitor trap per every few hours. 

Congratulations! You successfully catch the rodent, all you have to do now is to release it.

Repeat the whole process until you catch all the rodents. 

Please make sure you clean up the traps before using them again as they might be marked as danger by previous rodent.  We recommend disinfectant that kills all the bacteria ( see here )
